EDL
aka Edit Decision List
A text file listing every clip used in an edit — source tape, in-point, out-point, and timeline position — so an editor can recreate a cut in another system.
Edit Decision Lists are the lingua franca of editorial handoff. EDLs travel between Avid, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, and Final Cut Pro to recreate a timeline without sending the actual media. StoryboardCanvas Animate exports a CMX 3600-format EDL alongside the animatic so a DaVinci editor opens a frame-accurate version of the boards-as-cut on day one.

Every edl we generate stays linked to the rest of the project — change a scene heading and the edl updates automatically. No re-import. No copy-paste. One project file from script to wrap.
