How to build a call sheet from a script

A call sheet is the contract for tomorrow. Every cast member, every department head, every PA reads it the night before. The traditional process — typing names into a Word template at 9pm — is a holdover. In a connected suite the call sheet writes itself.

1

Make sure /shoot-day has the day's scenes

Open /shoot-day and confirm the scene list for tomorrow's date is correct. Pull from the schedule if it isn't — drag scenes off the stripboard in /calendar onto the day. The day is now declared.

2

Open /call-sheet for that date

/call-sheet auto-generates from the shoot day. It pulls the cast list off the breakdown tags for each scene; the locations off /locations; the weather forecast off the location postcode; the nearest hospital off the location lat-long; and the meal break window from the production rules.

3

Refine individual call times

Every cast member's default call time is the general crew call. Drag any pill earlier for HMU-heavy actors. The AI predictive call-time tool can read prior shoot-day actuals and suggest individual times based on who was late last week.

4

Add the day's note and a hospital fallback

The 1st AD's note appears at the top of every recipient's copy — driving hazards, weather warning, restricted access. The nearest-hospital widget defaults to the closest A&E for the primary location; override if the production has a preferred trauma centre.

5

Dispatch by SMS + email

Click Dispatch. Every recipient gets the call sheet by email with an HMAC-signed share-token link they can RSVP from on mobile, plus an SMS reminder. Audience-aware redaction strips production-confidential fields (above-the-line names, location addresses) from talent's copies if you want to.

The call sheet flips automatically every time the shoot-day order changes — drag a strip in /calendar, and tomorrow's call sheet recomputes including weather, cast call times, and meal-break boundaries.
